performative awareness
often i see videos or posts or some other medium of expressing content tackle the 'the curse of self awareness' or something along those lines
it always tickles me that people will comment something like 'omg yes, this is me, i am so self aware it's crazy'
and like, are you? with a comment like that? i feel like the most sincere comments i see online are people who comment and the feeling that they convey is almost 'yeah no one will see this but this is my thought in this moment'
the comments i see that gather thousands of likes seem to be posted for an audience - a self-validation of sorts
like someone who is truely self aware would look at the comment they were writing and go 'actually what is the point' and then quickly delete it
like the actual curse of self awareness is to witness dozens of people say they are so self-aware, then be perplexed when they exhibit behaviours showing that isn't the case at all
it doesn't necessairly bother me, but i find it interesting nonetheless
